Fearfully and Wonderfully Made

We're still plugging along at the Eicholtz house. Fortunately for us, we've had Grandmothers plugging along with us recently to watch Wes (& now Allie too) until the end of July so that we can get him a little older and take more time with PT during the day on our terms before sending him off to daycare. The 2015-2016 school year is in the books, so while I no longer have 'Summer' as a verb, I'm still looking forward to the relaxed pace, dress-code, and feel of being one of 7 people in a high school that work all year. My school family has supported us tremendously in the past four months and I often have teachers and co-workers asking how Wes and the family are doing. The kids made a cameo appearance for our final staff luncheon on one of the teacher workdays after school was over, so they were able to see Wes' smiley self and see how well our NICU stud is doing and get to meet in person the little one whom they were lifting up in prayers. As I introduced him, I couldn't help but think of how distant the idea of a rolly-polly-smiley-little boy who was tube-free and sporting crazy fuzzy hair was in those first days at the NICU. How far he's come...and he's just getting started.

Tummy Time Photo Session

Alright, you got me.

And never far behind...is the big sis.
Speaking of the big sis, she had her first legit graduation ceremony, complete with songs, the pledge, and sassy poses such as you'll find below. Our girl is officially a rising Kindergartner and she is SUPER excited. If you talk with her, you won't make it 1 minute before you're well-informed of her plans for the future (and most recently that she took a shower in 1 minute 38 seconds).

What does one wear to a pre-school graduation when the only thing that you can pick on your own is a skirt?
Cheetah-print, of course.

Allie's teachers were an absolute blessing. We were so fortunate to have had them in her life.

The director tears up at every promotion ceremony...it's kind of great.

'We'll always 'bee' friends.'

Family grad pic.

And just when you thought it couldn't get more exciting...
Someone lost her first tooth!

That's a vintage Mrs. Jones-made 80's tooth pillow that girl's using.
It's still got it.
But that wasn't enough...so the next day at school before nap-time, Allie pulled out tooth #2 on her very last day of preschool! The Tooth Fairy ended up having to make a round trip to take care of business! She surprised her grandparents when they picked her up for her last day with Wes and me and by the end of the day she was floating home. We were all feeling happy as Wes also had a pretty great day. He had his next appointment with the Perinatal Brain Injury Clinic through Children's Hospital and he blew them away. They are thrilled with his progress and gave us the green light to start tapering his anti-seizure medicine. As of this blog-post, he's 'Wes 1.0' as I like to call him. Down from 1.9 ml twice a day. Next it's 0.5, and then off completely if all goes well.

Definitely a reason to...
smile :o).
We celebrated Wesley John's baptism on June 12th at the 11 o'clock service surrounded by friends, family, and those who have prayed for our boy since he was born. When our minister visited us during the dark and foggy days of the NICU, he told us that he looks forward to baptizing him. It was very meaningful to see it happen.

Someone captured Wes reaching up and holding Rev Jim's chin as he was preparing to place the water on his head. Sometimes we think that Wes has gained a lifetime of knowledge in his 4 short months, he just doesn't know how to explain it all yet.

Love these boys.
You get a pass on ignoring the camera if you're looking to the left while doing so.
The baptism bunch.

It was a great day.

And here's to more to come!
